Do you love fine dining at a low cost? Do you often find it difficult to dine out with friends because they cancel at the last minute?

Join me and others in the same boat for dinner at this fabulous five-star hotel overlooking the River Thames near Covent Garden, and enjoy a three-course meal with a glass of bubbly each.

Located on the Embankment, the five-star The Royal Horseguards Hotel boasts some of the most iconic views in London. This Grade I listed Victorian building served as the headquarters of the Secret Service during World War I, and the restored interior retains much of its period charm.

Inspired by the changing of the seasons, the restaurant One Twenty One Two offers a menu showcasing classic continental dishes prepared with British-produced artisan ingredients.

With its eclectic fabrics and décor, the Equus Bar recreates the gentlemen’s club atmosphere of the hotel’s past. The bar celebrates its rich history with contemporary cocktails named after famous former guests such as George Bernard Shaw, Herbert Kitchener, Winston Churchill and William Gladstone.

Starters may include:

  • Sweet potato and barrel aged feta salad, orange, chicory, Korean chilli flakes (v) – 596 kcal

  • Textures of beetroot, roasted, poached and crispy fried, coconut yoghurt, pine nuts, watercress, red wine vinegar dressing (vg) – 524 kcal

  • Pressed ham and pea terrine, piccalilli purée, cornichons, bitter leaves, crostini – 328 kcal

  • Bresaola, air-cured Italian beef, rocket leaves, parmesan, onion crisps, lemon and olive oil – 477 kcal (+£3)

Mains may include:

  • Double cooked free-range chicken supreme, hispi cabbage and bacon, creamed mash, sherry and mushroom sauce – 1220 kcal

  • Poached salmon, courgette ribbons, tartare hollandaise – 647 kcal

  • Pan fried potato gnocchi, cherry plum tomatoes, woodland mushrooms, baby spinach, chillies, vegan Italian hard cheese (vg) – 458 kcal

  • Chargrilled 10oz rib-eye steak, chimichurri, triple cooked chips, slow roast vine tomatoes, sautéed garlic woodland mushrooms – 1033 kcal (+£10)

Desserts may include:

  • Burnt Cambridge cream, candy glazed baked vanilla custard, seasonal berry compote, buttered shortbread (v) – 635 kcal

  • Kentish strawberries with Chantilly cream (v) – 597 kcal

  • Warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream (vg) – 533 kcal

  • Selection of artisan British cheeses with chutney and crackers – 959 kcal (+£3)

Please pay extra if your meal exceeds £30.

Please add 12.5% on top of your meal and any additional drinks. To RSVP you must pay first via PayPal. This is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the event is full, the RSVP will close. From past experience, payment upfront helps avoid time-wasters who RSVP without intending to attend.

All prices include VAT and a discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to your bill.
