Join us for a leisurely spring stroll from Virginia Water Cascades to Windsor Castle and enjoy a day immersed in nature, history, and beautiful scenery! This in-person event is perfect for anyone who loves walking, exploring, and connecting with others.

Walk Highlights

• Route: The Cascade, London Road, Virginia Water → Windsor Castle

• Scenic Spots: Virginia Water Lake, Cascades, Valley Gardens, Windsor Great Park, Long Walk to Windsor Castle

• Landmarks: Copper Horse statue, The Robber’s Cave, iconic tree-lined Long Walk, views of the Thames

• Historical Notes:

  • Virginia Water Lake was drained during World War II to prevent enemy guidance.

  • The lake has been used in Harry Potter filming.

  • The Cascade was built with stones from Bagshot Heath, rumored to be from a Saxon settlement.

Hike Description

• Distance: 17.08 km (10.9 miles)

• Difficulty: Easy, flat paths, no steep hills

• Rating: 2/10

• Ascent: 189 m

• Duration: 5.5–6.5 hours (including breaks)

• Breaks: 1–2 short breaks (10–15 minutes) plus a picnic lunch on the grass

Optional activities at Windsor:

• Visit Windsor Castle (entry extra)

• Explore the shopping centre and local eateries

• Walk along the River Thames

Meeting Point

• Location: Clapham Junction Train Station, outside Marks & Spencer

• Time: 9:00 am (train departs 9:20 am)

• Return: Approx. 7:00 pm, Windsor & Eton Riverside → London (group train ticket included)

Food

• Bring snacks and a packed lunch for the hike

• Optional refreshments at a pub after the walk

• £30 (non-refundable; you may resell your spot to someone on the waiting list)
