A day of fresh air and beautiful beaches on the south Kent coast.

It’s another bank holiday weekend, so let’s travel by luxury coach to the coastal county of Kent for a visit to the seaside towns of Deal and Folkestone. Come alone, with your best friend, or with your partner. Make new friends, connect, socialise and have fun — it certainly beats staying at home. Meet like-minded people who enjoy getting out and exploring.

Located on the south Kent coast between Ramsgate and Dover, our first stop is Deal — a strong contender for one of the coolest seaside towns in the county. Expect colourful buildings, a lovely seafront promenade, independent shops, antique stores and elegant Georgian properties in the town’s sought-after conservation area.

Deal sits where the North Sea meets the English Channel, around 8 miles north-east of Dover and 8 miles south of Ramsgate. It was once a fishing, mining and garrison town, and its history is closely linked to the anchorage in the Downs.

Later we continue to Folkestone, a port town on the English Channel in south-east England. The town lies on the southern edge of the North Downs in a valley between two cliffs.

Still one of England’s busiest ports and a popular place to visit thanks to its scenic coastal setting, Folkestone became an important holiday destination in the mid-19th century after the railway from London was built. Much of the town’s distinctive architecture therefore dates from the Victorian era. It was also a key harbour and shipping port throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Itinerary

8:00 am – We leave promptly at 8:00 am. Please arrive 15 minutes early.

10:30 am – Approximate arrival in Deal.
Enjoy free time to explore the town, grab a snack or drink, stroll along the beach, browse the shops, or simply relax by the sea. Make sure you pack your swimwear if you fancy a dip.

Why not join me for a walk along the coast and take some fantastic photos — perfect for Instagram. If anyone is interested in an optional walk towards Hythe let me know. Due to timing we may only be able to walk part of the way.

1:00 pm – We leave Deal promptly.

1:45 pm – Approximate arrival in Folkestone.

Enjoy free time to explore, relax and take in the scenic coastal views. No work today — just time to chill and enjoy the seaside atmosphere.

6:00 pm – Coach departs for the return journey to London.

9:00 pm – Approximate arrival back in London.

Meeting Point

Please meet by the coach bays on Tothill Street, which is about a 2-minute walk from London Underground station St. James’s Park Station.

Food

It’s a long journey, so feel free to bring snacks or sandwiches if you wish. Once we arrive at our destinations there will be plenty of cafés, restaurants and eateries to choose from.

Refund Policy

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled (minus PayPal fees). If you require refund protection, please arrange your own insurance for this trip.

If you prefer not to appear in photos, please step out when group photos are being taken. Photos may be shared on the Meetup page and on social media.

Important

On the return journey to London, if you are running late you must phone me. The coach will wait a maximum of 15 minutes and will then depart. If you miss the coach, it will be your responsibility to arrange and pay for your own travel home.
